Eirina and Siska portrays a mother orangutan and her daughter resting together in quiet closeness. Drawn from my time working at the Denver Zoo, this piece reflects the deep bonds I observed between mothers and their young; relationships built through constant contact, patience, and trust. The figures are carved to emphasize weight, warmth, and protection, with the daughter nestled into her mother’s presence. It’s a moment of shared stillness that speaks to care, learning, and the steady reassurance of being held within another’s orbit.
Each print is hand-pulled from a carved linoleum block on an etching press. Subtle variations in ink coverage, pressure, and texture occur naturally during the printing process, making every impression unique.
